Sunday Morning Dialysis
A word picture that I think describes the blessings of Sunday morning Divine Service is that of dialysis. People who undergo dialysis must do so to clean their bodies (more accurately their blood) of all the toxins that have accumulated. Likewise, in Divine Service, when we hear God’s word and believe we are cleansed as in the Absolution and in the Lord’s Supper. With these God cleanses our hearts and minds and declares us clean.
